How We Bring Value

What We Offer

Strategic Law AI Consulting

At CommenceAI, our mission is to equip law firms with the clarity, strategy, and tools needed to confidently embrace artificial intelligence. We deliver tailored guidance that demystifies AI and translates its capabilities into real-world legal outcomes—streamlining legal research, accelerating due diligence, enhancing case strategy, and driving firm-wide operational excellence. Our goal is to help firms unlock AI’s potential to improve profitability, sharpen competitive edge, and deliver superior client service.

Vendor Selection

At CommenceAI, we guide law firms through the often-overwhelming process of AI vendor selection—cutting through the noise to identify solutions that align with each firm’s unique practice areas, budget, and long-term goals. Our approach challenges the notion that effective legal AI requires expensive, specialized software. Instead, we help firms unlock powerful capabilities using cost-efficient tools—often leveraging platforms they already license, like Microsoft Copilot—ensuring both fiscal responsibility and technological excellence. Our goal is to help firms make smart, strategic AI decisions that deliver real value without inflated price tags.

Prompt Engineering Training

At CommenceAI, we provide specialized prompt engineering training designed exclusively for law firms. Our program teaches attorneys and legal staff how to craft precise, effective prompts to optimize interactions with AI models like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. From legal research and brief drafting to contract analysis and deposition preparation, we help firms unlock the full potential of AI by ensuring that prompts yield accurate, relevant, and defensible legal outputs. This training enhances productivity, reduces time spent on routine tasks, and elevates the quality of work across all practice areas.

About

Commence AI

Thomas Fellows has eleven years of experience working in the software sales arena working with companies that have specialized in SaaS, PaaS, bolt on solutions, as well as ERP and CRM. In 2014, while working for SAP Partner Libelle, a company that automated SAP system refreshes, Fellows became aware of the power of automated tasks that were normally done by human effort and labor.

Years later, soon after OpenAI released ChatGPT in November of 2022, Fellows published a general report on how he thought it would affect the workforce in the coming years. From February 2023 to January 2024, Fellows appeared in 48 TV interviews in 19 states including South Carolina, Wisconsin, Illinois, Hawaii, Texas, Wyoming, Indiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma, New Mexico, New York, Tennessee, Alabama, West Virginia, North Dakota, Minnesota and Georgia. You can view the interviews below the two paragraphs below.

After doing graduate work at the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering in Prompt Engineering under Dr. Andrew Maynard, he gained new skills/insight and published another report. This one honed in on Marketing, Law, Medicine, and Engineering. The report went into depth on divergent/convergent thinking, integrative complexity which leading psychometrics say is much more valuable to workforce related activities than IQ, and how AI was starting to encompass the Big Five Personality Traits of conscientiousness, neuroticism, agreeableness, extroversion, openness to experience.

Fellows founded CommenceAI with the vision of helping law firms not only navigate the complex and often intimidating landscape of artificial intelligence, but also harness it as a strategic asset. His goal is to empower firms to use AI not just to improve efficiency or reduce overhead, but to elevate the quality of legal service, expand access to justice, and deliver meaningful value to clients and society. Fellows believes AI can give law firms the head start they need to lead the profession into its next era—smarter, faster, and more client-focused than ever before.

He also interviews in the media on his education reform proposal that rejects the traditionally held view of how psychometrics relates to workforce readiness, how the recent Trump tariffs will affect business/consumers and on labor unions.

Fellows’ father, Hank Fellows, is the Founding Partner of Fellows LaBriola, which is based out of Atlanta, GA. He was the editor of the law review at Georgetown Law Center, where he attended law school. Fellows LaBriola is the leading niche business litigation firm in the Deep South as well as the leading firm in the Deep South in terms of law school rank for each partner. The firm often gets referrals from the two most elite firms in Atlanta, King & Spalding and Alston & Bird. Fellows has been ranked the third best lawyer by Super Lawyers in Georgia during the last fifteen years and was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2007. The membership of the College cannot exceed one (1) percent of the total lawyer population of any State. Thomas grew up working at Fellows LaBriola as a teen and took a keen interest in law.
